John Denver was a superstar performer who influenced millions of people with his pop-folk songs and many of them located in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell New Mexico. However, he discovered love for Colorado. The singer-songwriter eventually moved to Aspen. Denver's songs for his home state have drawn many to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated that John Denver is the only musician to truly embody Colorado. In the year 2011, Denver was named the Hall of Fame's very first inductee. Denver is the symbol of Colorado for many people across the globe. Through my many travels, I have met many individuals who do not hail from Colorado. People will beg, "Oh John Denver!" When they hear you're from Colorado. Brown stated. Denver's first Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a brief period of performing with small folk-based bands included Take Me Home Country Roads co-written with Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the song with Johnny Cash in mind but when Denver was introduced to an earlier version it was clear that the track could become an instant hit. After performing the song in Washington D.C. to a large audience, Denver recorded it just days afterward.
